Artistic Director: Honored Worker of Kazakhstan – Yernar Myntayev

The band consists of Aidar Toktaliev (1st violin), Alexey Lebedev (2nd violin), Bekzat Sailaubaevich (viola), Ernar Myntaev (cello).

The first string Quartet was formed in 1988 at the Akhmet Zhubanov Republican Music School. Today’s quartet features musicians in the fourth generation. The founder of the creative team is Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the State Youth Award “Daryn”, received the medal “For Labor Distinction”, artistic director, laureate of republican and international competitions, outstanding cellist Yernar Myntayev.

The State Quartet is considered one of the best chamber ensembles in Kazakhstan, distinguished by high performing skills, virtuoso-playing technique, beauty of sound, a subtle sense of style and ensemble culture. The quartet’s repertoire includes many works of world classics and works by composers of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh state string quartet named after Gaziza Zhubanova is the leading chamber music collective of Kazakhstan.

One of the ideological inspirers of the collective is the People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR, composer Gaziza Zhubanova, whose name was given to the quartet.

In 1995, thanks to its active competitive and concert activities, having won recognition at home, the quartet received state status.
