V ANNIVERSARY CHORAL FESTIVAL “GUL ALMATY – 2026” UNITES NEARLY 500 ARTISTS

ALMATY, May 1, 2026 – The Great Hall of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic hosted the V “Gul Almaty – 2026” Festival, one of the most significant events in the country’s choral arts. This unique cultural project, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, celebrated its fifth anniversary this year. The defining feature of this year’s festival was its sheer scale. The stage brought together 9 choral groups, ranging from children’s ensembles to professional choirs—totaling nearly 500 performers. This city-wide festival demonstrated the continuity of the national choral school, serving as a “golden bridge” between young talents and established masters. Festival Participants Alongside the B. Baikadamov State Choral Chapel, conducted by Beimbet Demeuov, the following groups took the stage:
  • “Kokek” and “Koktem” children’s choirs;
  • Boys’ and Girls’ choirs of the A. Zhubanov Boarding School;
  • The ensemble of the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University;
  • “ALAKOZ” Chamber Choir;
  • “Knyazhichi” Male Choir;
  • The Choir of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory;
  • The Chamber Choir of the E. Rakhmadiyev Philharmonic (visiting specifically from Astana).
Evening Program The festive program featured:
  • Classical works by Kazakh composers;
  • Lyrical songs dedicated to the beloved city of Almaty;
  • Masterpieces of world music across various genres.
The audience experienced the full spectrum of choral colors, finding profound spiritual inspiration in the performances. Organizer’s Note According to the organizers, this project is more than just a concert; it is a vital professional platform designed for exchanging experience between choral schools, enriching repertoires, and elevating children’s creativity to new heights.
