On May 19, 2025, the Cultural Workers’ Forum opened in Astana. The event was dedicated to the professional holiday of culture and art workers.
Over the next three days, leaders and employees of museums, theaters, libraries, archives, and cultural and leisure institutions will discuss current issues in the industry and prepare proposals.
Panel sessions are held simultaneously at several venues. For example, the National Museum hosted the opening of the 3rd Kazakhstan Museum Congress. The main topic was the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. During the meeting, experts focused not only on theory but also on practical issues. Participants learned about major achievements in conservation and restoration of exhibits and took part in a workshop on preserving archaeological artifacts.
At the same time, representatives of concert and cultural-leisure organizations participated in roundtables on stagecraft, innovations in directing, producing, and costume design, as well as in creative laboratories and master classes.
Heads and specialists of regional libraries also gathered to discuss modern development strategies and experience in applying digital technologies. The agenda included the use of artificial intelligence and the preservation of documentary heritage.
Within the forum, the republican festival of cultural and artistic organizations and workers “Rukhani Kazyna – 2025” was opened. Applications were submitted by 85 libraries, 50 cultural and leisure organizations, and 30 museums. The jury, consisting of professional experts, will review each application and determine winners in 19 categories.
