The State Woodwind Quintet of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic performed in the Irtysh region for the first time. With nearly three decades of professional development and winners of the Grand Prix at the international Open Spain competition, the ensemble presented meaningful concerts and high-level masterclasses over two days in the cities of Ekibastuz, Aksu, and Pavlodar.
The artistic tour began at the Yestay Children’s Music School in Ekibastuz. There, the musicians met with young performers and shared their many years of experience. It was more than just a lesson — the meeting between representatives of a professional school and young talents grew into a genuine creative dialogue. The ensemble’s artistic director, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Professor Zhanat Yermanov, guided the students, revealing the subtleties of instrumental performance and the secrets of stage culture. The mentoring event concluded with the ensemble’s festive concert titled “New Year’s Tale.”
The tour program continued in the city of Aksu. As a tribute to the city’s 65th anniversary, the ensemble performed timeless works by Ferenc Farkas, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Johann Bach. Impressed by the quintet’s high level of performance, the organizers expressed special gratitude and honored the musicians led by Zhanat Yermanov.
The final stop of the tour was the Pavlodar Music College. The meeting with students turned into an open exchange of ideas, where aspiring musicians received valuable professional advice from experienced performers. Thus, the State Woodwind Quintet’s tour of the Pavlodar region concluded successfully, and the ensemble returned to Almaty with many memorable impressions.
