On October 1, 2024, at 7:00 PM, a concert will be held to celebrate the opening of the 89th new season of the State Choir Chapel named after B. Baikadamov.

The evening will feature guest performances by the People’s Artists of Kazakhstan — Roza Rymbaeva, Aigul Ulkenbaeva, and Ramazan Stamgaziev. The program will include works by Kazakh and foreign composers, as reported by aqshamnews.kz.

The artistic director and chief conductor of the chapel is Beimbet Demuev, Honored Figure of Kazakhstan.

The State Choir Chapel named after Bakytzhan Baikadamov was founded in 1935 under the leadership of Dmitry Matsukin as a small choir within the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic. Due to the ensemble’s tireless dedication to folk art, in 1939 it was granted the status of a State Choir Chapel by the decree of the government of the Kazakh SSR. This year marks 85 years since the choir was awarded this state status, and the ensemble is now opening its 89th concert season since its establishment in 1935. In 2025, it will celebrate its 90th anniversary.

Significant contributions to the formation and development of the ensemble were made by Boris Lebedev, Latif Khamidi, Boris Orlov, Bakytzhan Baikadamov, and Galina Vinogradova. From 1959 to 1991, the choir was led by the People’s Artist of the USSR, laureate of the State Prize, and professor Anatoly Vasilyevich Molodov. For its contributions to the development of the country’s musical art, the chapel was awarded the title of “Honored Collective of Kazakhstan” in 1967.

The ensemble’s repertoire includes arrangements of folk songs and music, poems, cantatas, and oratorios by prominent Russian and foreign classics, as well as works by Kazakh composers such as M. Tulebaev, B. Baikadamov, E. Rakhmadiyev, G. Zhubanova, M. Sagatov, and S. Mukhamediyev. Today, the repertoire consists of over five hundred works performed in 20 languages of the world. As a unique ensemble, it performs not only in Kazakhstan but also abroad, including in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, Germany, India, China, Hungary, and the USA.

This year marks the 89th anniversary of the founding of the State Choir Chapel named after Bakytzhan Baikadamov. Throughout these years, the ensemble has continuously refreshed its repertoire, contributed to the development of the country’s musical culture, and won the affection of its audience.
