Zhambyl Philharmonic at 90: The Tamgaly Exhibition

Today, in honor of the 90th anniversary of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic, the State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve “Tanbaly” opened a traveling exhibition titled “Tanbaly: At the Crossroads of History and Art.” The main goal of the exhibition is to introduce visitors to the ancient civilization carved into stone through petroglyphs.

Unusually, the ceremonial ribbon was cut not by institution officials but by philharmonic guests, symbolizing the warm appreciation both historic institutions have for their audience.

The exhibition focuses on the unique elements of the Kazakh cultural code that took shape during the formation of the Kazakh Khanate (15th century). National values from this period — including musical instruments such as the dombra and jetigen, genres like aitys and kui, and ornamental patterns such as “qoshqar muyiz” — are prominently featured.

The exhibition will remain on display at the philharmonic building for one week.
